"Live from the MARQUEE - It's Only Rock n' Roll"
A great new rock music TV series

The Marquee Club

So many legendary acts we love passionately today, broke out, and became superstars at a little club in London in the '60's 70's and 80's. It was called the MARQUEE. It was a tiny club; no frills, no explosions, no videos, where the bands played for real. A hallowed portal where a band could pass from local gigs / street level survival to worldwide adoration.

13 x 1 hour episodes

The MARQUEE became literally, the BIG BANG of Rock n' Roll, launching a generation of music. Spawning a universe of stars including Led Zeppelin, The Stones, The Who, Jimi Hendrix, The Police, Bowie, AC/DC, Elton John, U2, Rod Stewart, Fleetwood Mac, Pink Floyd, The Cure, Dire Straits, The Sex Pistols, Genesis, Yes, Guns n' Roses, Aerosmith, Metallica and Billy Idol, to name just a few. Fifty years later, their record sales, whether vinyl, CDs, downloads or streams, are robust, and like the universe itself, they keep expanding.

The greatest rock bands

The actual set will be created to lovingly reprise the old MARQUEE on Wardour Street (but larger, and a lot more flexible). There'll be an audience, backstage interviews. The feel will be like the old MARQUEE, but it will be NOW (and for lack of better wording) a virtual MARQUEE; a new portal for a new era, building on the same vibe as back then. A small intimate venue, electricity in the air, a stage where history is made!

Our world today is so different from the world fans and bands experienced in the days of the MARQUEE. Radio was a beacon, uniting fans. Everyone listened to it in their cars, or on their portable radios. Record stores were Meccas jammed with fervent disciples. Everybody was talking about a new song or a new album. New music was constantly breaking, and there were TV shows too, like American Bandstand, Top of the Pops, The Old Grey Whistle Test for example.

The MARQUEE was THE greatest rock club - ever...

This new show - "Live from the MARQUEE" - makes it THE place where you can go to get your "fix" of Rock N' Roll...

WHY DO WE NEED THIS?

Today, there’s an enormous international rock audience in waiting for more music generally, and from their fav acts specifically, but their access is limited; to the internet, or by going to a live concert or by going to or watching a music festival on TV. Most of them do not get to go to concerts. Tickets are hard to come by and quite costly for a great many of them.

This is true all over the world. From Australia, to Japan, to India, to Europe to North and South America. Unbelievably, there are NO major broadcasted or major streamed TV shows dedicated exclusively to showcasing big time rock ‘n roll anymore. We believe there’s a huge gap this show can fill for fans (and future fans) who crave an affordable and continuing access to high quality, straight from the shoulder (the real thing) rock ‘n roll.

What is the show?

We are filming a TV series of 13 episodes, entitled “Live from the MARQUEE"

There will be 13 episodes, kicking off with a Pilot. Each show includes 4 key segments:

Three performance segments; where (at least in the Pilot and early episodes) a "MAIN ACT" (if available), meaning a superstar band that actually played the MARQUEE (like for example, Blondie, The Rolling Stones, The Police, The Who, U2, Elton John, AC/DC, Dire Straits, Guns N' Roses, Aerosmith, Iron Maiden).

There will be a "SPECIAL GUEST ARTIST", following the opening performance, a hit band (or solo artist) that came to prominence later, is a current chart topper or consistently has millions of streams, selling out concerts wherever they play, for example Muse, Coldplay, Bruce Springsteen, Billy Joel, Billy Eilish, 30 Second to Mars, Arctic Monkeys, Foo Fighters, The Killers, Imagine Dragons, 21 Pilots.

If no MAIN ACT is available, then the show will comprise two top special guest artists. Either way, the MAIN ACT, or one of the special guest artists, will kick off and close the show.

There will be a "BREAKTHROUGH ARTIST", a young super band in ascension, for example, I Prevail, Arhcitect, Inhaler. That's how it started for all the bands that broke through at the MARQUEE. We're going to do it again. This segment will become a portal to stardom for a new generation of rockers, the "bubbling under" stars of tomorrow.

Lastly, before the MAIN ACT (or Special Guest Artist) closes the show, a "rap session". Imagine all of the three band members from all of the bands appearing (with our MC) in a rap session, perhaps on stools, on the MARQUEE set "after hours". Their shared experiences, great stories, their awareness of each other, their journeys.
